Ohio Means Jobs Readiness Seal – For Students and Families

Ohio Mean Jobs Readiness Seal

The OhioMeansJobs-Readiness Seal is a formal designation for high school students who have demonstrated that they are ready for the next step in their career path.

Why you Should Apply

Ohio businesses have reported a gap between the skills they seek in applicants and the skills applicants have, creating a high demand for professional skills. These skills correlate to student success in higher education as well. The OhioMeansJobs-Readiness Seal is a formal designation for high school students who have demonstrated that they are ready for the next step in their career path, whether in the workforce or the postsecondary classroom. To earn the seal, students must demonstrate proficiency in the top 15 most important professional skills identified by business leaders in Ohio.

Students receive first-hand information from mentors they identify on what it takes to be successful in their career path. These mentors can be from school, work or the community, helping the student to learn and obtain professional skills in diverse environments. Earning the OhioMeansJobs-Readiness Seal helps set a student apart from other applicants and gives them a competitive advantage. The seal also acts as a recommendation from the student’s mentors, giving them a powerful credential during an application process. Businesses and higher education institutions across the state recognize and value the OhioMeansJobs-Readiness Seal as an indicator that a student is prepared for their future.

Who is Eligible

Any high school student focused on success after high school is eligible to receive the OhioMeansJobs-Readiness Seal. Although a student may earn the seal at any time during their high school education, they cannot receive formal recognition until they have graduated.
